HDS ViewStation HOWTO

Introduction
The HDS ViewStation is a network or flash RAM bootable thin-client X11 graphics terminal. The model discussed in this document has long since been discontinued and can usually be found on the interweb for a reasonable price.
Specs
- Sun or PC keyboard compatible
- PS2 Mouse interface
- PCMCIA Flash RAM (Optional, not discussed)
- SVGA video interface
- XXX MB RAM
Getting the Software
HDS Netos is proprietary software which is not freely available.
In fact, it doesnt seem that you can even purchase it anymore if you wanted to pay for it, so hopefully you or a friend has the media somewhere..

Network Configuration
Firstly,
DHCP. Technically these terminals use BOOTP which some DHCP Servers (ie: ISC DHCPD) support for backwards compatibility
Administrator Accesss
You'll need the hardburned admin password which is 17PBAPREGF! (r13 encoded)
Bryces Notes
- put the dir (tftpboot) in ftp
- put it in tftp
- config the xterm to point to that dir, and put in the correct auth info for ftp/nfs/whatever
- For the blue ones: netOS3.0/config/default.cfg
- edit that file with your settings.
